This is a draft while ReciPie prepares for launch. It may still change before the app is released.

Who we are

ReciPie is run by Ilja Jarmoss, based in Norway. Questions or requests about your data go to contact.recipie.app@gmail.com.

What we collect

Your account: your email address, or your Apple sign-in, and your name.

What you tell us in the app: your goals, cooking habits, calorie goal, reminders, your profile picture and colour, and whether you’ve allowed AI features.

What you add: recipes and their photos, folders, your pantry, your grocery list, and the meals you log, with their calories and photos.

What you share in shared folders: recipes, notes, reactions, requests, and who is in each folder. We also keep any reports of posts, and who you have blocked.

Subscriptions: whether you have Pro and when it ends. Apple handles payment, so we never see your card.

Usage limits: a count of your AI requests, and records used to protect the free month streak reward, such as when each meal was logged.

Technical records: our service providers keep routine logs, such as IP addresses and device details, to run and protect the service.

We don’t use advertising or tracking tools, and we don’t sell your data.

Why we use it

To run the app and the features you choose, keep your data on all your devices, take payment and provide Pro, keep the app safe, and answer you when you contact us.

Where the law asks for a legal basis, ours are: providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interest in keeping it secure and free of abuse, and your consent where we ask for it, such as for your camera and photos.

Who else handles it

Supabase stores your account and data for us. Our email provider sends your sign-in codes and receives your email address to do so.

OpenAI, an outside AI company, receives what’s needed for the AI features you use, and only after you’ve allowed it. You can turn this off in Profile at any time: photos of recipes or meals, the text of posts and pages you import, recipe titles when you use Organize, and a recipe’s title and ingredients when you ask us to estimate its calories.

RevenueCat and Apple handle subscriptions. RevenueCat receives your account’s ID and purchase history.

The USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts receive the food names you search for, through our server.

When you import a link or search for recipes, our server visits those websites to read them. If you open a recipe site or a web search in the app, that site or DuckDuckGo receives your request directly, under its own privacy policy.

These companies may process data outside your country. We may also share data if the law requires it.

Other people in shared folders

Everyone in a shared folder can see the folder’s recipes and their photos, its picture, notes and requests, and members’ names. Only share what you’re happy for them to see.

How long we keep it

We keep your data until you delete it or delete your account. To delete your account, go to Profile, then Delete account. This removes your account, recipes, folders, meal log and photos. Copies may stay in backups for a limited time.

Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your Apple account settings first.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, delete or get a copy of your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing contact.recipie.app@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK and California, the law may give you further rights, including complaining to your data protection authority. In Norway, that’s Datatilsynet.

Children

ReciPie isn’t meant for children under 13, or under the age of digital consent where you live. If you think a child has given us data, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
